The aims of co-curricular opportunities at Arley Academy are: 

• To provide a wide range of experiences and opportunities both within and beyond the school day 

• To develop the ‘whole child’ ready for future pathways 

• To build an awareness of ‘positive mental health’ 

Delivering of co-curricular opportunities at Arley Academy: 

The Inspire Curriculum extends well beyond the 2014 National Curriculum and includes a wide range of activities and opportunities to maximise every moment of the school day. 

Our lunchtime provision includes a wide variety of sporting opportunities for all age ranges, access to Thrive activities and the school library to access books. 

Performances and productions 

At Arley, we ensure we value performance and allow children to showcase skills. From Nativities in EYFS to end of year productions in Year 6, we ensure children have the opportunity to perform. 

Clubs and competition 

As part of our continuing commitment to school sport and the enhancement of ‘the lived daily experience’ of our children, we offer a wide range of clubs. Through feedback from children and parents we have developed a tailored and highly successful bespoke offer that is catered especially for our children.  

Baking Club

Baking Club began when two children wanted a club to remind them of fond memories they had with their grandparents and how much they enjoyed this in the past. ‘Arley Baking Club’ began! Children in Years 4 and 5, with a keen interest in baking, attend each week, after school.  

The aims are to help to build relationships, learn to bake and have fun!  

Gardening Club

Our Gardening Club spend a great deal of time improving our school, inside and out. Bushes have been cut back, new life planted and colours added, as well as plenty of recycling. The children proudly plant trees and flowers, not only for the Arley community, but also for local charities. They are also planting for future generations to come.

Arley Choir

We are very proud of our Arley Choir, with Mrs Orton leading the way. They have performed at the Young Voices Concert held in Birmingham with over 3000 children from different schools in the United Kingdom! They have also performed as part of the ‘Inspire Choir’, singing their hearts out. 

Progressive co-curricular opportunities 

We value the strength of giving children progressive opportunities in their school offer, both inside and outside of the classroom. Our children leave Arley in Year 6 with memories of both visits and visitors which have helped them to learn and remember new knowledge as they have moved through school. Each year the children visit a place linked with their learning.
